Nieuwe data releases Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. heeft zojuist bekend gemaakt dat de release data van twee films worden aangepast. Het gaat om Wonder Woman en Jungle Book.

Eerder werd aangekondigd dat Jungle Book op 17 october 2017 zou uitkomen. Nu wordt het meer dan een jaar uitgesteld naar 19 october 2018. Het is niet de enige verfilming van Rudyard Kiplings boek dat we binnenkort zullen zien. Disney’s The Jungle Book gaat dit jaar al in première op 14 april. Andy Serkis, regisseur van Warner Bros.’ Jungle Book, is in ieder geval wel blij met deze beslissing.

“I’ve got to say that personally I’m absolutely thrilled that Warner Bros. has changed the delivery date of our movie. The ambition for this project is huge. What we are attempting is an unprecedented level of psychological and emotional nuance in morphing the phenomenal performances of our cast into the facial expressions of our animals.”

He also added: “So, every minute more that we have to evolve the technological pipeline will make all the difference. … The evidence is there already and it’s off the chain exciting, so hang on in there. …This is truly next-generation storytelling, and it will be the real deal!”

Wonder Woman zal van 23 juni 2017 naar 2 juni 2017 worden verplaatst. Het personage, gespeeld door Gal Gadot, maakte haar filmdebuut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Hoewel die film een historisch sterk openingsweekend kreeg daalde de kaartverkoop drastisch in de tweede en derde week. De film kreeg veel kritiek, maar het personage Wonder Woman werd over het algemeen goed ontvangen.

Warner Bros.heeft ook data bepaald voor twee DC films zonder titel: 5 october 2018 en 1 november 2019. Andere DC films waarvan de data al bekend waren gemaakt zijn: Suicide Squad (5/8/2016), The Flash (16/3/2018), The Justice League Part One (17/11/2017), Aquaman (27/7/2018), Shazam! (5/4/2019), Justice League Part Two (14/6/2019), Cyborg (3/4/2020) en Green Lantern Corps (19/6/2020).
