Star Wars: Episode IX cast officieel aangekondigd

Walt Disney Pictures en Lucasfilm hebben de officiële cast aangekondigd voor Star Wars: Episode IX! Terugkerende castleden zijn Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo en Billie Lourd. Nieuwkomers zijn Naomi Ackie (Doctor Who), Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park, Hudson Hawk) en Keri Russell (The Americans). De Star Wars veteranen die in Episode IX zullen verschijnen zijn Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels en Billy Dee Williams, wie terugkeert als Lando Calrissian. Regisseur J.J. Abrams vertelde:

“We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

De opnames voor Star Wars: Episode IX zullen op 1 augustus starten in London’s Pinewood Studios. Abrams schreef het scenario samen met Chris Terrio (Argo, Justice League).

Componist John Williams, wie tot op heden elke Star Wars saga film sinds A New Hope heeft gecomponeerd, zal terugkeren voor Episode IX.

Star Wars: Episode IX wordt geproduceerd door Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams en Michelle Rejwan. Uitvoerend producenten zijn Callum Greene en Jason McGatlin.

De film draait vanaf december 2019 in de bioscoop.
