The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is reboot van franchise

Het is na drie delen van The Chronicles Of Narnia een tijdje stil geweest omtrent de verfilming van de boeken van auteur C.S. Lewis. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008) en The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010) waren goed voor $1.5 miljard wereldwijd. Zes jaar na de laatste film heeft producent Mark Gordon nu bevestigd dat een vierde deel in de maak is. Deze heeft als titel The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair. Gordon vertelde:

“We’re hoping to be able to make the movie very shortly. We’re very excited about it.”

David Magee (Life of Pi) heeft het scenario voor The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair al geschreven. Nu is de vraag of de jonge acteurs uit de eerdere films zullen terugkeren in de nieuwe film, welke zich een decennium na de laatste film afspeelt. Gordon zei hierover:

“No, it’s all going to be a brand new franchise. All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from.”

Gordon bevestigde later dat “original” betekent dat we personages zullen zien uit Lewis’ boeken welke we nog niet eerder zijn tegengekomen. Er is hier dus geen sprake van totaal nieuwe personages. The Silver Chair wordt omschreven als:

Through dangers untold and caverns deep and dark, a noble band of friends is sent to rescue a prince held captive. But their mission to Underland brings them face-to-face with an evil more beautiful and more deadly than they ever expected.
