De Snyder Cut van Justice League te zien op HBO Max

Fans eisten het en nu gebeurt het. De langverwachte Snyder Cut van Justice League zal eindelijk het levenslicht zien in 2021 op HBO Max. Het nieuws verscheen vandaag tijdens een online watch party van Man of Steel, waar Zack Snyder het volgende zei:

“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”

Interessant is dat we geruchten hebben gehoord dat de Snyder Cut niet zal worden uitgebracht als speelfilm, maar als een reeks afleveringen van 30 minuten. Volgens The Hollywood Reporter heeft Snyder $ 20-30 miljoen extra gekregen om de montage, effecten en andere elementen van de film goed af te ronden om deze naar de aankomende streamingdienst van WarnerMedia te brengen.

In een persbericht verklaarde Warner Media Entertainment en Direct-To-Consumer-voorzitter Robert Greenblatt:

“Since I got here 14 months ago, the chant to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has been a daily drumbeat in our offices and inboxes. Well, the fans have asked, and we are thrilled to finally deliver. At the end of the day, it really is all about them and we are beyond excited to be able to release Zack’s ultimate vision for this film in 2021. This could never have happened if it weren’t for the hard work and combined efforts of the teams at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures.”

Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer bij HBO Max, President, TNT, TBS en truTV, zei in een verklaring:

“When Zack and Debbie shared the extraordinary vision of where Zack wanted to take Justice League, my team and our counterparts at Warner Bros. took it as a mission to solve the many issues that stood in the way. Thanks to the partnership at Warner Bros. and the relentless pursuit of the entire WarnerMax team we are able to deliver this incredibly exciting moment for Zack, the fans and HBO Max.”

In de loop der jaren zijn er ook wisselende verhalen verschenen, waarbij sommigen beweren dat hoewel hij misschien genoeg materiaal heeft, de visuele effecten nog niet compleet zijn en de studio het niet wil financieren, terwijl recentelijk bekend is geworden dat de regisseur een kopie van de film voor studiomanagers heeft vertoond nadat hij zijn eigen kapitaal had bijeengebracht om bepaalde delen van de film af te maken.

Toby Emmerich, voorzitter van Warner Bros. Pictures Group, zei in een verklaring:

“Thanks to the efforts of a lot people, we’re excited to bring fans this highly anticipated version of Justice League. This feels like the right time to share Zack’s story, and HBO Max is the perfect platform for it. We’re glad the creative planets aligned, allowing us to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.”

Gevoed door het herstelde vertrouwen in de mens en geïnspireerd door de onbaatzuchtigheid van Superman, krijgt Bruce Wayne nu te maken met een nog grotere vijand. Maar gelukkig krijgt hij hulp van een nieuwe bondgenoot: Diana Prince. Batman en Wonder Woman moeten snel een team van metahumans samenstellen om de strijd aan te gaan met deze nieuwe dreiging. Maar ondanks het team van superhelden, Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) en The Flash (Ezra Miller), is het misschien al te laat om de wereld te behoeden voor een catastrofale ramp.

De Snyder Cut van Justice League heeft hoofdrollen voor Ben Affleck als Batman, Henry Cavill als Superman, Gal Gadot als Wonder Woman, Jason Mamoa als Aquaman, Ray Fisher als Cyborg en Ezra Miller als The Flash. Daarnaast zijn er rollen voor Willem Dafoe als Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg als Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons als Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane als Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen als Queen Hippolyta, J.K. Simmons als Commissioner Gordon, Amy Adams als Lois Lane, Ciarán Hinds als Steppenwolf, Amber Heard als Mera en Kiersey Clemons als Iris West.
