De Emmy- en Golden Globe-winnende serie Game of Thrones zal later deze zomer beginnen met de opnames van het zevende seizoen. Dit werd vandaag aangekondigd door Casey Bloys, president van HBO programming. De opnames van HBO‘s zeven afleveringen tellende seizoen zal plaatsvinden in Noord Ierland Spanje en IJsland. Game of Thrones seizoen 7 zal te zien zijn vanaf zomer 2017 op HBO. Bloys zei:
“Now that winter has arrived on ‘Game of Thrones,’ executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing. Instead of the show’s traditional spring debut, we’re moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule.”
De afleveringen van het zevende seizoen zullen geregisseerd worden door o.a. Mark Mylod, Jeremy Podeswa, Matt Shakman en Alan Taylor.
Afgelopen week ontving Game of Thrones 23 Emmy nominaties, inclusief ”Outstanding Drama Series”, 2 voor ”Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” (Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington), 3 voor ”Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series” (Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams), ”Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series” (Max von Sydow), 2 voor ”Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series” (Miguel Sapochnik, Jack Bender) en ”Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series” (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss).
