Hollywoodsterren zamelen geld in voor slachtoffers aanslag Christchurch

Diverse Hollywoodsterren hebben geld gedoneerd om slachtoffers en nabestaanden van de terroristische aanslagen op twee moskeeën in Christchurch te helpen. Via een inzamelingsactie, die is opgestart door Guy Oseary, de manager van popzangeres Madonna, hebben verschillende beroemdheden geld gedoneerd. In totaal zou er al ruim 7 miljoen dollar opgehaald zijn.

De Queen of Pop doneerde zelf ruim 10.000 euro. Ben Stiller, Ava DuVernay, Judd Apatow en Ashton Kutcher beloofden ieder 1.000 dollar, terwijl komediant Chris Rock voor ruim 5.000 euro op de lijst werd gezet. Het doelbedrag van de GoFundMe-pagina is 100.000 dollar, omgerekend ongeveer 88.000 euro.

Oseary schreef op de pagina:

“I read the frightening details and could barely find the strength to watch a short clip of the disturbing footage. My heart breaks for the victims and for their families…We will work with GoFundMe to ensure all funds are transferred to an organisation providing support to the families and community. We will provide additional information about the distribution of funds as soon as it becomes available and are actively researching the best organisations in New Zealand to receive what is raised.”

Waar het geld precies naartoe gaat, is niet helemaal duidelijk. Guy schrijft dat hij nog bezig is met research van Nieuw-Zeelandse organisaties die hem kunnen helpen om het geld bij de juiste personen te krijgen.
