Hulu bestelt How I Met Your Father serie met Hilary Duff
How I Met Your Father, de vervolgreeks van How I Met Your Mother, is eindelijk in ontwikkeling bij Hulu.
Hilary Duff heeft getekend om de hoofdrol te spelen in de spin-off How I Met Your Father. De serie bestaat uit 10 afleveringen en wordt exclusief gestreamd op Hulu in de Verenigde Staten. This Is Us showrunners Isaac Aptaker en Elizabeth Berger zullen dienen als schrijvers en uitvoerende producenten. How I Met Your Mother-makers Carter Bays en Craig Thomas aan boord zijn als uitvoerende producenten.
How I Met Your Father
In de serie speelt Duff de rol van Sophie, die haar zoon vertelt hoe ze zijn vader ontmoette. De officiële synopsis, “the story catapults us back to the year 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”
Zoals verwacht is Duff enthousiast over de rol:
“I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie. As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby. Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can’t wait to work alongside them and all of their genius. Just fangirling over here getting to join the Hulu Originals and 20th families. I realize these are big shoes to fill and I’m excited to slip my 6 ½’s in there!”
Craig Erwich, president van Hulu Originals en ABC Entertainment, wilde het merk How I Met Your Mother sterk houden. Hij zei:

How I Met Your Mother is een komedieserie van CBS, waarvan op 19 september 2005 de eerste aflevering werd uitgezonden. De serie werd bedacht door Craig Thomas en Carter Bays. De reeks won zowel in 2006, 2007 als 2008 een Emmy Award voor de Art Direction, en in 2006 tevens een tweede Emmy voor de cinematografie. De hoofdrollen werden gespeeld door Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan.
