Katherine Heigl in Suits seizoen 8

Dat actrice Meghan Markle zou vertrekken bij Suits zal niemand echt verbaasd hebben. Ze voegt zich immers bij de Britse koninklijke familie. Maar de serie moet het in het achtste seizoen ook doen zonder tegenspeler Patrick J. Adams. Nu is een nieuwe hoofdrolspeler gevonden in Katherine Heigl. Ze krijgt een vaste rol in het achtste seizoen van de serie. De actrice is vooral bekend van haar rol als Izzy in Grey’s Anatomy.  Ze zal volgens The Hollywood Reporter de rol van Samantha Wheeler gaan spelen, een nieuwe partner in het advocatenkantoor Pearson Specter Litt waar de serie om draait.

Over haar rol in de serie zei Heigl:

“Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an EP I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of. I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”

Showrunner Aaron Korsh vertelde:

“On behalf of the entire Suits team, I am extraordinarily excited to welcome Katherine Heigl into our family — I have always been a big fan of her work and was delighted to discover she was an avid Suits fan herself. I cannot wait to have her come play with our entire cast and crew. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Harvey, Louis, Donna and Alex as the mysterious Samantha Wheeler is a direct threat to their status quo. One thing is for sure — Samantha’s wit, charm, loyalty, strength and vulnerability will all be put to the test as she muscles her way into the firm currently known as Pearson Specter Litt.”

Suits gaat over een snel Amerikaans advocatenkantoor in Manhattan, geleid door de legendarische advocaat Harvey Spectre, zijn intelligente maar delicate partner, Louis Litt en Donna Paulsen. Na de onrust over het leiderschap en het verlies van belangrijke partners blijft het trio topzaken aanpakken met de steun van de formidabele Alex Williams en de onmiskenbaar getalenteerde Katrina Bennett. De krachtige advocaat Samantha Wheeler voegt zich bij de rangen van Zane Spectre Litt. Samen moeten deze topmensen vertrouwen op hun kennis, humor en intuïtie om hun klanten op afstand te houden en hun bedrijf overeind te houden.

De hoofdrollen worden gespeeld door Gabriel Macht als Harvey Specter, Rick Hoffman als Louis Litt, Sarah Rafferty als Donna Paulsen, Amanda Schull als Katrina Bennett, Dule Hill als Alex Williams.

Het nieuwe seizoen zal eind dit jaar te zien zijn.
