Eerder was er het gerucht dat Mr. Freeze te zien zou zijn in Batman prequel-serie Gotham. Dat verhaal is nu bevestigd door uitvoerend producent Danny Cannon. Zijn oorsprongsverhaal wordt verkend en zal geïnspireerd zijn op een waargebeurd verhaal:
“Without giving too much away – because I’m not allowed to – the great thing about working on a CSI procedural show for so long was we worked with so many experts – specialists in each field. There’s a lot of things I picked up along the way.
My first conversation with [showrunner] Bruno Heller about the villains in this show is always that they need to be very credible and relatable and the science behind them needs to be real. So I had a couple of stories that I’d held onto – real, true stories – and one of them just related to Mr Freeze. I know a real way to create an origin story.”
De serie Gotham richt zich op een jonge James Gordon in zijn jaren voordat Gotham City werd beschermd door Bruce Wayne als Batman. De jonge Bruce zal ook een rol spelen in de serie, maar de focus ligt voornamelijk op Gordon en de oorsprong van bekende Batman-schurken, zoals The Penguin, Catwoman en The Joker.
De cast van de Gotham bestaat uit Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock), Ben McKenzie (Detective James Gordon), Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish Mooney), David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle), Sean Pertwee (Alfred), Zabryna Guevara (Captain Sarah Essen), Erin Richards (Barbara Kean) en Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepoth, alias The Penguin). Gotham is te zien vanaf 22 september.
