Nieuwe streamingdienst Paramount Plus aangekondigd
Op dit moment zijn er al diverse streamingdiensten verschenen en er lijken er steeds meer te komen. Naast Netflix, Apple TV+ en Amazon Prime Video wagen ook veel filmstudio’s zich aan een eigen dienst. Zo heeft Disney de dienst Disney+, Warner Bros. heeft HBO Max en Universal Pictures lanceerde recentelijk Peacock. Nu komt ook Paramount Pictures met een dienst, namelijk Paramount Plus of Paramount+.
Paramount Plus aangekondigd
Paramount+ wordt op 4 maart gelanceerd in de Verenigde Staten en Latijns-Amerika. ViacomCBS heeft vandaag officieel de datum aangekondigd waarop de CBS All Access streamingdienst vervangen wordt door Paramount+. De rebranding volgt op de fusie van CBS en Viacom in ViacomCBS, waardoor het streamingplatform zijn bibliotheek kan uitbreiden met inhoud van CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central en Paramount Pictures’ backcatalogi. Bob Bakish, President en CEO van ViacomCBS zei in een persbericht waarin de rebranding in september 2020 werd aangekondigd:
“Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling. With Paramount+, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy.”
Marc DeBevoise, Chief Digital Officer van ViacomCBS en President & Chief Executive Officer van ViacomCBS Digital, voegde toe:
“The response from consumers in just the early weeks of the service’s expansion already illustrates the tremendous opportunity ahead of us in bringing these phenomenal ViacomCBS brands together in one premium streaming home under the new Paramount+ name. With the addition of even more content from across the portfolio as well as the new exclusive originals we are announcing today, we look forward to the early 2021 rebrand and bringing existing and new subscribers more of the compelling, genre-spanning live sports, breaking news and mountain of entertainment ViacomCBS has to offer.”
