Regisseur Joe Carnahan over Bad Boys for Life

Er zit meer dan 15 jaar tussen Sony Pictures‘ Bad Boys 3, oftewel Bad Boys for Life, en het tweede deel in de franchise. Regisseur Joe Carnahan (The A-Team en The Grey) voelt inmiddels de druk toenemen. In een interview zei hij:

“Unless you’re Toy Story 3, usually third ones aren’t the strongest. I think this one will be the strongest of the trilogy thus far.”

Hij vertelde iets meer over de film:

“There’s a lot of funny sh*t in this movie, and there’s also a very mysterious, but tonally spot-on story that I think is kind of perfect for where we are in this day and age, where the guys are and reflectively, a very modern take on these guys. It’s kind of what becomes of Bad Boys when they’re not boys anymore.”

Carnahan beloofde dat de rollen van Will Smith en Martin Lawrence niet zullen worden doorgegeven aan jongere acteurs:

“There’s only one Will Smith and one Martin Lawrence. You can’t replace those guys and I wouldn’t want to be involved if it wasn’t Will and Martin. They are that franchise.”

Bad Boys for Life stond gepland voor 17 februari 2017, waarna deze werd uitgesteld tot 2 juni 2017. Nu zal te film pas vanaf 12 januari 2018 te zien zijn. Carnahan neemt de teugels van de franchise over van Michael Bay.
