Wanneer verschijnt HBO’s Euphoria seizoen 2?

HBO heeft eerder Euphoria seizoen 2 aangekondigd, maar er is momenteel geen officiële releasedatum aangekondigd. Als het echter hetzelfde patroon volgt als seizoen 1, zou Euphoria seizoen 2 in juni in de VS moeten worden uitgezonden, met een Britse première in augustus.

In de hoofdrol zien we The Greatest Showman actrice Zendaya. Euphoria wordt ontwikkeld en geschreven voor HBO door Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation). Francesca Orsi, EVP van HBO Programming, vertelde:

“Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya. We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series. We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.”

Euphoria seizoen 2

Er is ook nog geen officiële bevestiging van wie er precies zal terugkeren, maar afgezien van Zendaya is het waarschijnlijk dat de meeste, zo niet alle, hoofdpersonages in seizoen 2 aanwezig zullen zijn. We zullen zeker meer van Fezco zien, zo liet Levinson weten aan The Hollywood Reporter:

“His story didn’t belong in season one, it belongs in season two. Going into season two, we know who all of these characters are, so the possibilities of it become pretty exciting from a writing and filmmaking standpoint.”  

Jacob Elordi (die Nate Jacobs speelt) zei tegen Entertainment Weekly dat hij het niet erg vindt wat er in het volgende seizoen met zijn personage gebeurt. Hij zei:

“Whatever it is, I want him to have a life and I want it to be honest. I truly don’t have any qualms about which direction it goes. I mean, obviously, it would be a lovely story if he turned out to be a real sunflower and lit up the world. But I definitely want it to be just true and real to his experience and I want it to kind of make sense. And I’m not sure what that looks like.”

Sydney Sweeney (Cassie Howard) vertelde aan Entertainment Tonight:

“You won’t even be able to guess what’s coming… I couldn’t even guess it. Creator Sam [Levinson] called me over the summer, going, ‘So what do you think Cassie’s going to do next season? Where do you think she’s gonna go?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know, maybe she does this or that.’ He’s like, ‘Ahh yeah. No!’ And then he read me a little bit, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, wait!’ I couldn’t even guess it, so if anybody’s able to guess it, you’re very good. It’s just shocking. I mean, everything with life as a teenager is shocking, so you never know what to expect.”

Gebaseerd op een Israëlische serie met dezelfde naam, zal Euphoria een groep middelbare scholieren volgen terwijl ze worstelen met drugs, seks, identiteit, trauma, sociale media, liefde en vriendschap. De originele serie werd gecreëerd door Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin en Tmira Yardeni en was te zien van 2012 tot 2013.

De serie heeft een ensemble-cast bestaande uit Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming) in de hoofdrol van Rue. Daarnaast zijn er rollen voor Maude Apatow (This is 40), Eric Dane (The Last Ship), Barbie Ferreira (How to Behave), Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), Sydney Sweeney (Sharp Objects), Algee Smith (The Hate U Give), Jacob Elordi (Kissingbooth), Hunter Schafer, Austin Abrams (The Walking Dead), Alexa Demie en Nika King.

Euphoria wordt ontwikkeld en geschreven voor HBO door Sam Levinson (Assassination Nation). De reeks is uitvoerend geproduceerd door Grammy Award-winnende artiest Drake (Degrassi: The Next Generation) en Future the Prince samen met Levinson, Leshem, Levin en Yardeni. Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Mirit, Toovi, Yoram Mokadi en Gary Lennon zullen ook als uitvoerende producenten dienen.
