Hoewel Disney+ officieel nog geen groen licht heeft gegeven aan The Mandalorian seizoen 3, is het eigenlijk een formaliteit. De maker en showrunner van de serie, Jon Favreau, begon eerder dit jaar met de scripts van seizoen 3 (via SuperHeroHype). Recentelijk vertelde Favreau aan Variety dat seizoen 3 van The Mandalorian “op schema ligt … [om te beginnen met filmen] voor het einde van het jaar”. Favreau voegde toe:
“We’re operating under the assumption that we’ll be able to go forward. We’re in very small situations and oftentimes we have a lot of characters in masks. And we also have a lot of digital work that augments things. So we’re a show that’s probably well-equipped to be flexible based on the protocols that are emerging surrounding work restarting.”
Met betrekking tot geruchten over een Mandalorian film merkte Favreau op dat hij geen haast heeft om er een te maken. Hij zei:
“But we’re definitely open to it. And excited to see where the story leads us and have that flexibility — because there’s no rulebook now. Technology is always offering new opportunities to tell stories in a fresh way. It’s a very exciting time to be doing this and I feel very grateful that we’re able to be able to work remotely, because of the nature of the technology that we’re dealing with. So we’re continuing to try to move forward and keep the ball rolling, even though it’s been a challenging time for everyone.”
“I think that the work is so beautiful that I would love for that to be held by a big-screen experience,” said Pascal. “But it seems to work so well that also I’m not sure it’s something that I would want corrupted by any kind of change, you know? I mean, I certainly know that the challenge can be met. It’s not like these people don’t have the experience. If anybody can do it, they can!”
Seizoen 2 van The Mandalorian gaat op 30 oktober in première op Disney+. Elke vrijdag om middernacht verschijnen er nieuwe afleveringen.
The Mandalorian seizoen 3
Recente onthullingen van het tweede seizoen van The Mandalorian hebben onthuld dat we de terugkeer zien van Temuera Morrison (Aquaman) als Boba Fett, Katee Sackhoff als The Clone Wars’ Bo-Katan in live-action-vorm en naar verluidt het live-action debuut van Ahsoka Tano zal bevatten. Rosario Dawson (Zombieland: Double Tap) is in gesprekken om het personage te spelen, hoewel de actrice onlangs bevestigde dat de deal nog niet gesloten is. Timothy Olyphant (Justified) doet ook mee aan het tweede seizoen van de serie.
Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos) speelt de hoofdrol in Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars serie The Mandalorian. Hij is te zien als een eenzame Mandalorian revolverheld in de buitenste regionen van de melkweg en wordt vergezeld door Gina Carano (Deadpool), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) en Nick Nolte (Affliction).
Meerdere regisseurs bevestigde eerder hun betrokkenheid bij The Mandalorian seizoen 2, waaronder Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel), Peyton Reed (Ant-Man), Jon Favreau (The Lion King), Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) en de eerdergenoemde Carl Weathers, die naast acteren ook actief is als regisseur.
