The Accountant met Ben Affleck krijgt sequel

Warner Bros. Pictures wil een vervolg op The Accountant, dat meldt Deadline. Regisseur Gavin O’Connor, scenarist Bill Dubuque en hoofdrolspeler Ben Affleck zouden allemaal terug moeten keren in de sequel op de film uit 2016. Mogelijk zou ook Jon Bernthal tekenen. In een interview vóór de première van het eerste deel was O’Connor al optimistisch over een sequel:

“There’s more to be explored with this character. What excites me is that, most franchises are IPs that people know about. Books or comic books and super heroes. This is entirely original and that’s what I loved about it. This is sort of his origin story. Even though no one has a comic book to read or a book to read or a graphic novel. This is all brand new for everybody. If it works and people want it and there’s an appetite for it, there’s more stories to be told.”

Christian Wolff is een wiskundig genie en altijd beter geweest met cijfers dan met mensen. Hij werkt met zijn specialistische kennis voor grote malafide organisaties in de wereld teneinde hun cijfers te manipuleren. Wanneer de anti-criminaliteitsbrigade van het Ministerie van Financiën hem wat te dichtbij komt neemt hij een legitieme baan aan als afleiding: de boeken controleren van een robotfirma, maar ook hier blijkt niet alles pluis.

Andere rollen waren er voor Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jean Smart, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Jeffrey Tambor en John Lithgow.
