Christopher McQuarrie over Mission: Impossible 6

Paramount Pictures en Skydance Media gaven eerder Mission: Impossible 6 een releasedatum. De nog titelloze zesde Mission: Impossible-film zal te zien zijn vanaf 27 juli 2018. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation regisseur Christopher McQuarrie schrijft opnieuw het script en neemt ook weer plaats in de regiestoel. Tegenover Empire sprak McQuarrie over de nieuwe film:

“It starts in a very unconventional way. It does not start with action. That was the hardest pitch of this movie.”

Op de vraag hoe hij de vliegtuigstunt uit Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation zou overtreffen zei McQuarrie:

“I may have found something today. I came to Tom with a picture of something and Tom looked at it and said, ‘That’s awesome! I want to fall off of that!’ It’s like, OK, I can see it on a poster, and I can see Tom falling off of it.”

De regisseur sprak tevens over het personage Ethan Hunt en hoe weinig we als kijker van hem weten:

“I’ve seen five of these movies and I don’t know who Ethan Hunt is. One movie sort of dealt with his personal life; the other movies are about people speculating what’s really going on in Ethan’s head. I want to know who Ethan is in this movie, I want an emotional journey for this character, and Tom really embraced it.”

Van Tom Cruise is bekend dat hij weer terug zal keren in de rol van Ethan Hunt. Tevens wordt verwacht dat ook Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn), Rebecca Ferguson (Ilsa Faust), Jeremy Renner (William Brandt) en Ving Rhames (Luther Stickell) terugkeren in hun rollen.
