Anna Faris stopt na zeven seizoenen met Mom
Volgens TVLine zal Anna Faris officeel stoppen met haar rol als Christy Plunkett in het aankomende achtste seizoen van de populaire CBS sitcom Mom. Ze was zeven seizoenen lang te zien naast Oscar winnaar Allison Janney. WBTV, CBS en Chuck Lorre Prods. zei:
“From the inception of Mom, Anna was the first and only choice for the role of Christy. We are so proud of the stories we have been able to tell during Anna’s seven years with us. We wish Anna all the best, and we thank her for her beautiful portrayal.”

Warner Bros. TV heeft bevestigd dat haar rol niet opnieuw gecast zal worden, maar de afwezigheid van haar personage komt in het achtste seizoen aan bod. De opnames van het nieuwe seizoen beginnen 18 september. Anna Farris zei in een statement:
“The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career. I’m so thankful to Chuck, the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”
Mom draait om het disfunctionele moeder-dochter duo Christy en Bonnie Plunkett terwijl ze hun best doen om weer contact te maken en hun leven te herstellen na jaren van worstelen met verslavingen. Sinds het debuut heeft de serie positieve recensies en hoge beoordelingen ontvangen.
De serie is gemaakt door Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky en Gemma Baker. Andere rollen zijn er voor Allison Janney, Sadie Calvano, Nate Corddry, Matt Jones, French Stewart, Spencer Daniels, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Mimi Kennedy, Jaime Pressly, Beth Hall, William Fichtner en Kristen Johnston.
Voor haar optreden als Bonnie heeft Janney 2 Emmy Awards gewonnen uit vijf nominaties voor Outstanding Supporting Actress.
