Donald Glover en Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Mr. and Mrs. Smith serie
Het is drie jaar geleden dat we Donald Glover en Phoebe Waller-Bridge voor het laatst samen zagen en nu wordt het duo herenigt in de Amazon Mr. and Mrs. Smith serie remake. Ze zullen de hoofdrol spelen en samen de serie adaptatie creëren. Dit meldt The Hollywood Reporter.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith serie
De film Mr. & Mrs. Smith verscheen in 2005 en werd geschreven door Simon Kinberg (Dark Phoenix) en geregisseerd door Doug Liman (Chaos Walking).
John en Jane Smith zijn een gewoon koppel met een gewoon lusteloos huwelijk. Maar in het geheim zijn ze allebei beruchte huurmoordenaars. Als de waarheid aan het licht komt, krijgen John en Jane de opdracht om elkaar te vermoorden.
De hoofdrollen werden gespeeld door Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) en Angelina Jolie (Maleficent).
De reboot van de serie, die eerder in 2007 werd geprobeerd bij ABC, zal worden gemaakt door Waller-Bridge naast Francesca Sloane. Sloane zal optreden als showrunner in de serie, die wordt geproduceerd door New Regency’s Yariv Milchan en Michael Schaefer en Wells Street Films’ Jenny Robins.
Milchan en Schaefer zeiden in een statement:
“Having had the pleasure of successful collaborations with the incredibly talented Donald Glover, most recently on Guava Island, we all started talking about other projects to do together and when he suggested the idea of a new take and iteration on the New Regency film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, we jumped at the chance to get going right away. Adding Phoebe and her company Wells Street Films as a collaborator and co-star takes everything up another level and makes the project worthy of a reimagining for both new audiences and past fans of the original film. We are so excited to be working with Donald, Phoebe, Francesca and the entire team at Amazon Studios.”
De releasedatum van de nieuwe serie is nog niet bekend.
