De Emmy Awards 2021 zitten er weer op. Dit keer werd de ceremonie door Cedric the Entertainer gepresenteerd, op zondag 19 september in Microsoft Theater te Los Angeles. Het was de 73ste keer dat de Primetime Emmy Awards werden uitgereikt. In tegenstelling tot de editie van vorig jaar, toen de ceremonie via videoverbindingen plaatsvond, waren de meeste genomineerden fysiek bij dit evenement aanwezig in Los Angeles. Streamingservice Netflix is de absolute winnaar geworden tijdens de uitreiking. Series The Queen’s Gambit en The Crown leverden de streamingdienst de eerste prijzen voor beste series op. De serie rondom het Britse koningshuis haalde maar liefst zeven awards op en Ted Lasso (Apple TV+) kreeg er vier. The Queen’s Gambit kreeg een prijs voor beste miniserie.
