Komedieserie Mom stopt na seizoen 8
De komedieserie Mom zal officieel eindigen na seizoen 8 op CBS. Dit werd gister aangekondigd. Uitvoerend producenten Lorre, Gemma Baker en Nick Bakay zeiden:
“For the past eight years, we’ve had the great honor to bring these wonderful characters to life, sharing their struggles and triumphs with millions of viewers every week.”
Ze vervolgden:
“From the beginning, we set out to tell stories about recovery from alcoholism and addiction that are rarely portrayed in a network comedy series. Whether it was the emotional reactions of the live audience on tape night inside Stage 20, or discussions at The White House regarding the opioid crisis, or the personal stories we continue to receive on social media, we take great pride in knowing Mom has positively impacted so many lives. We are forever grateful to our brilliant cast and guest stars, wonderful writers, and amazing crew for going on this journey with us.”

De laatste aflevering van Mom seizoen 8 zal te zien zijn op 6 mei 2021.
Mom seizoen 8
Mom draait om het disfunctionele moeder-dochter duo Christy en Bonnie Plunkett terwijl ze hun best doen om weer contact te maken en hun leven te herstellen na jaren van worstelen met verslavingen. Sinds het debuut heeft de serie positieve recensies en hoge beoordelingen ontvangen.
Hoofdrollen in de serie zijn er voor Anna Faris, Allison Janney, Mimi Kennedy, Jaime Pressly, Beth Hall, William Fichtner, Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Matt Jones, French Stewart, Kristen Johnston.
Anna Faris speelde 7 seizoenen de hoofdrol, maar stopte met haar rol als Christy Plunkett. Ze was te zien naast Oscar winnaar Allison Janney.
De serie is gemaakt door Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky en Gemma Baker.
Voor haar optreden als Bonnie heeft Janney 2 Emmy Awards gewonnen uit vijf nominaties voor Outstanding Supporting Actress.
