Parasite heeft filmgeschiedenis geschreven bij de Oscars. De Zuid-Koreaanse tragikomedie won als eerste niet-Engelstalige film Beste Film, de belangrijkste categorie. De film was genomineerd voor zes Oscars, een ongekend hoog aantal voor een buitenlandse film.
