Reacties op overlijden Alan Rickman
Eerder vandaag kregen we bericht dat acteur Alan Rickman op 69 jarige leeftijd is overleden aan de gevolgen van kanker. Naar aanleiding van dit nieuws hebben meerdere mensen een eerbetoon gebracht aan de acteur.
Rickman was vooral bekend door zijn rol als professor Severus Sneep in de Harry Potter-films. De schrijfster van de boeken, J.K. Rowling, liet het volgende weten:
There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman’s death. He was a magnificent actor & a wonderful man.

Ook Harry Potter zelf, Daniel Radcliffe, liet van zich horen:
“Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also one of the [most loyal] and most supportive people I’ve ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I’m pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn’t have to do that. I know other people who’ve been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say ‘if you call Alan, it doesn’t matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he’s doing, he’ll get back to you within a day.’”
Hij vervolgde:
“People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner (or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career,” he wrote. “Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.”

Rickman werd op 21 februari 1946 geboren in Londen. Hij was in eerste instantie grafisch ontwerper, maar na drie jaar besloot hij een carrière in de acteerwereld na te jagen. Rickman studeerde tussen 1972 en 1974 aan de Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Na zijn afstuderen was hij te zien in een aantal theaterstukken. Rickman maakte in 1988 zijn debuut op het witte doek in de film Die Hard met Bruce Willis. In 2015 was hij nog in de film Eye in the Sky te zien. Rickman was een zeer succesvol toneel- en filmacteur en kreeg tijdens zijn carrière een Golden Globe, een BAFTA Award en een Emmy Award. The Guardian noemt hem een van de meest geliefde Britse acteurs van de afgelopen dertig jaar.
Vorig jaar mocht Filmhoek nog in de aanwezigheid zijn van Rickman tijdens een speciale voorpremière plaats van de film The King’s Gardens. Bekijk hier een verslag.
