Regisseur over zijn ideeën voor The Tomorrow War 2
Na de lancering dit weekend op Amazon Prime, wil The Tomorrow War-regisseur Chris McKay graag terugkeren naar deze wereld voor een vervolg. Hij laat nu weten dat The Tomorrow War 2 de oorsprong van de wezens zou onderzoeken. Mocht hij de kans krijgen, dan is McKay van plan om voort te bouwen op de fundamenten die zijn gelegd in de eerste film. Hij zei:
“We had such a fun design process. We talked about the world of these creatures, where they came from, how they were created or raised, and how they were maybe being used. I like world-building experiments, especially when you have the potential of some kind of time travel. I think that a sequel could go in a lot of fun areas and the ethnographic study of the whitespikes in their world and where they came from, and what their purpose was, and all of that kind of thing. So yeah, I think that could be a lot of fun. And with this cast, too, we’re just getting started.”
The Tomorrow War heeft een concept waarbij een wereld is gecreëerd die verder gaat dan wat in de eerste film wordt getoond. McKay zei eerder:
“I think there’s a lot of story on the table from a time travel perspective, from a world-building perspective from the White Spikes. So, there’s a lot of things that I think we can mess with and have a lot fun. It’s like what they did with The Purge or something like that, where it’s like they start with a really interesting concept and now the next movie and the next movie get to sort of play with those things and explore those things and blow them out.”
Of de filmmaker de kans krijgt om de franchise te maken die hij wil, valt nog te bezien, maar hij klinkt vastbesloten.
The Tomorrow War 2
In The Tomorrow War lijkt de mensheid te verliezen in een strijd met buitenaardse wezens. Wetenschappers ontwikkelen daarom een manier om de invasie te bestrijden door een de mogelijkheid te creëren om soldaten uit het verleden de oorlog te laten voeren. De film legt de focus bij een die is opgesteld om te vechten in een toekomstige oorlog waarin het lot van de mensheid afhankelijk is van diens vermogen om zijn verleden onder ogen te zien.
De film heeft onder andere rollen voor Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Betty Gilpin (GLOW), Sam Richardson, Jasmine Matthews, Theo Von, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Edwin Hodge, Keith Powers, Mike Mitchell, Alan Trong (Alita: Battle Angel), Seychelle Gabriel (Falling Skies), Alexis Louder (Harriet) en nieuwkomer Chibuikem Uche.
The Tomorrow War is geregisseerd door Emmy-winnaar Chris McKay (Robot Chicken, The Lego Batman Movie) op basis van een script geschreven door Zach Dean (Deadfall, 24 Hours to Live). Naast het vertolken van de hoofdpersoon is Pratt ook betrokken als uitvoerend producent. Tevens zijn Dana Goldberg, Jules Daly, David Ellison, David S. Goyer, Don Granger en Adam Kolbrenner betrokken als producenten.
