Scarlett Johansson over Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Scarlett Johansson is opnieuw te zien als Black Widow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Ze heeft onthuld dat de film twee jaar na de gebeurtenissen van The Avengers zal plaatsvinden. Ze vertelde:

“This film is in real time. It’s been two years since [the characters] appeared, and now both are agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fighting in the streets. We are not superheroes flying side by side. They help each other because we are fighting in a similar way. It’s a working relationship.”

De relatie tussen Black Widow en Captain America wordt een stuk intiemer tijdens de film. Daar gaat onze hoop dat Steve Rogers een relatie krijgt met de serveerster uit The Avengers.

“By a series of unfortunate encounters, they will be in a situation in which their friendship becomes more intimate. They share many similarities because they live on the defensive without relying on anyone. Also, the two have been working for the government throughout their professional careers. With their friendship they begin to question what they want and what is their true identity.”

Johansson is Joss Whedon onwijs dankbaar dat ze de rol van Black Widow mag spelen:

“To me, this character has given me a great opportunity. Joss has jumped the fence with Avengers to celebrate a female character that is not a simple ornament inside the group. He’s not interested in just selling her physical attractiveness.”

Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), beter bekend als de superheld Captain America, heeft moeite met zijn rol in de moderne wereld. Samen met Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), alias Black Widow, trekt hij ten strijde om een sterke maar geheimzinnige vijand te bestrijden, die zich verstopt in het hedendaagse Washington. Natasha is een spionne die werkt voor S.H.I.E.L.D., de veiligheidsdienst onder leiding van Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

Verder zijn er rollen voor Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernandez, Robert Redford en Georges St-Pierre. Captain America: The Winter Soldier wordt geregisseerd door Anthony Russo en Joe Russo op basis van een scenario door Christopher Markus en Stephen McFeely.

De film draait vanaf 27 maart 2014 in de bioscoop.
