Trailer voor Netflix serie Maya en de Drie Krijgers
Netflix heeft de trailer vrijgegeven voor de serie Maya en de Drie Krijgers (originele titel Maya and the Three). Bekijk deze hieronder. Een op Meso-Amerika geïnspireerde krijgsprinses probeert een oude voorspelling te vervullen en de mensheid te redden van de wraakzuchtige goden van de onderwereld.
Maya en de Drie Krijgers
In een mythische wereld, waar magie echt is en vier koninkrijken heersen, woont een dappere en opstandige krijgerprinses, Maya. Maya begint aan een spannende zoektocht om een oude voorspelling te vervullen, maar kan ze de goden verslaan en de mensheid redden?
Maya en de Drie Krijgers van maker Jorge R. Gutiérrez (El Tigre, Manolo’s magische reis) is een epische Netflix-animatieserie met negen hoofdstukken. Voor Gutiérrez is dit een heel persoonlijke serie doordat hij inspiratie haalde uit zijn eigen omgeving. Hij zei:
“Maya and the three is a story that I have wanted to tell since I was a child, inspired by the cultures of Mesoamerica, the Aztecs, Mayas, Incas, further south and the Caribbean. My idea was always to try to do what they did with The Lord of the Rings, taking inspiration from medieval fantasies or the fantasy of France like Fury of Titans and that if you come from a country with these mythologies and traditions, you have the right to your own versions, tell our stories and share them with the rest of the world.”
Hij vervolgde:
“So what better time and place to change that a bit and put the emphasis not on a male hero, but on a female heroine. And as a writer and creator, I looked at the three most important people in my life: my wife Sandra; my mother who is watching me from Tijuana, and my sister who is an artist and lives in Rome. I wanted to write a love letter to them and to the Mexican women who have put up with Mexican men, more than with legends or folklore”.
De hoofrolspelers zijn Zoe Saldaña, Gabriel Iglesias, Allen Maldonado, Stephanie Beatriz, Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, Alfred Molina, Kate del Castillo, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Rosie Perez, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, Jorge R. Gutiérrez, Sandra Equihua, Isabela Merced, Chelsea Rendon, Joaquín Cosío, Carlos Alazraqui, en Rita Moreno.
