Vikings seizoen 6 deel 2 verschijnt op Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video heeft aangekondigd dat Vikings seizoen 6 deel 2 op 30 december voor het eerst op Prime Video in première gaat in de VS, het VK, Duitsland, Oostenrijk en Ierland. Je kunt de officiële trailer van het laatste seizoen hieronder bekijken samen met de nieuwe poster! Het gaat om de laatste tien afleveringen van de populaire dramaserie.

De eerste tien afleveringen van het seizoen werden eerder dit jaar uitgezonden. De eerste vijf seizoenen en het halve zesde seizoen staan op Netflix. Voor Nederland is het nog onduidelijk hoe we seizoen 6 deel 2 hier te zien krijgen. Vikings, de veelgeprezen, Emmy Award-winnende serie van de maker en enige schrijver Michael Hirst (Elizabeth, The Tudors) is een familiesaga die de opmerkelijke verhalen vertelt over de levens en epische avonturen van de Scandinavische raiders en ontdekkingsreizigers uit de donkere middeleeuwen.

Brad Beale, VP van wereldwijde contentlicenties voor Prime Video, zei:

“Prime Video has already delighted Prime members with all five and a half seasons of VIKINGS. On December 30, Prime members in the US, UK, Germany, Austria and Ireland will be the first to learn the fates of the beloved characters as the epic drama concludes in the final ten episodes.”

Prime Video:

“As we approach the end of our epic saga, the tumultuous conflict between the Rus and Vikings comes to a conclusion with grave consequences. While in Iceland, Ubbe is determined to fulfill his father Ragnar’s dream and sail further west than any Viking has traveled before. And there is unfinished business in England. The Vikings have established settlements there, and over-run most of the country – except for Wessex.  The King of Wessex, Alfred the Great, is the only Saxon ruler to seriously challenge their complete domination. Ivar the Boneless must again face, in battle, the King he only knew as a boy for a final reckoning.”

Vikings-maker Michael Hirst zei in een verklaring:

“Our monumental VIKINGS saga is coming to its conclusion, but not before you’ve had to chance to watch some of my all-time favorite episodes. Prime Video will uniquely expose the series finale to a streaming audience first. Prepare to be astonished, and for many surprises along the way. And if you have tears to shed, then also be prepared to shed them.”

Vikings speelt zich af aan het begin van het tijdperk van de Vikingen, het einde van de achtste eeuw, en brengt ons naar de brute en mysterieuze wereld van Ragnar Lothbrok, een Viking krijger en boer die niets liever doet dan ontdekken en plunderen op zee. Zijn ambities zetten hem op gespannen voet met zijn leider Earl Haraldson, die wil dat ze naar het arme Oosten gaan in plaats van naar het onbekende Westen. Wanneer Ragnar een verbond sluit met zijn vriend Floki om een nieuwe boot te bouwen en daarmee vervolgens toch naar het Westen te varen, barst het conflict pas echt los.

Seizoen 6 is het laatste seizoen voor het Noorse epos. Bedenker Michael Hirst vertelde:

“I always knew how ‘Vikings’ would end and, after 89 episodes, I truly believe the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons has been told and we are leaving our beloved fans with the proper and definitive ending they so deserve. Although it is bittersweet there are still 20 episodes left and the most ambitious and intensely emotional episodes are still to come.”

In seizoen 6 zien we twee nieuwe karakters: de stedendwinger en Vikingprins Oleg van Novgorod en Erik, een uitstekende krijger die als outlaw overleeft door zijn slimheid en vechtkunst.

De cast bestaat uit namen als Katheryn Winnick, Gustaf Skarsgård, Alexander Ludwig, Peter Franzén, Alex Høgh Andersen, Marco Ilsø, Jordan Patrick Smith.
