Wanneer verschijnt Grey's Anatomy seizoen 18?

ABC heeft Grey’s Anatomy seizoen 18 aangekondigd nadat actrice en uitvoerend producent Ellen Pompeo, na langdurige onderhandelingen, een nieuwe deal heeft getekend om terug te keren. Pompeo’s medespelers Chandra Wilson (Bailey) en James Pickens Jr. (Richard) hebben ook nieuwe deals gesloten om terug te keren voor seizoen 18. Jesse Williams (Dr. Avery) heeft echter besloten om na twaalf jaar de serie te verlaten. Ook terugkerend naar ABC’s 2021-22-seizoen is de Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19, die terugkomt voor een vijfde seizoen.

Hoewel de financiële voorwaarden van Pompeo’s nieuwe deal niet beschikbaar waren, vertellen bronnen aan The Hollywood Reporter dat de actrice opnieuw een salarisverhoging heeft gekregen. Craig Erwich, president van ABC Entertainment, vertelde:

“Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy have done an incredible job of honoring real-life heroes by giving audiences an unflinching look at one of the biggest medical stories of our time. Krista and her team of writers have continued to deliver the compelling and compassionate storytelling that is a hallmark of these shows, and created some of the year’s most-talked-about moments in television. We’re so grateful to our talented casts and crews for their extraordinary work that connects with viewers everywhere, and we look forward to sharing even more defining moments with our fans next season.”

Showrunner Krista Vernoff voegde toe:

Grey’s Anatomy seizoen 1 t/m 16 zijn vanaf 23 februari 2021 te zien op het streamingplatvormen Amazon Prime Video, Videoland, Disney Plus Star.

Meredith Grey en haar collega’s zijn co-assistenten in Seattle Grace Hospital, binnen een van de zwaarste chirurgische opleidingsprogramma’s in de VS, waar de praktijkopleiding een zaak van leven of dood kan zijn. Ervaren artsen geven leiding en proberen te zorgen dat de nieuwelingen niet instorten. De groep leert al snel dat ze goed moeten nadenken over elke beslissing. Ze beseffen dat zij de enigen zijn die elkaars tegenslagen en angsten begrijpen en elkaar kunnen steunen. Grey’s Anatomy laat zien dat geneeskunde noch relaties zwart-wit zijn. Het echte leven bestaat uit grijstinten.

Grey’s Anatomy heeft rollen voor Ellen Pompeo als Meredith Grey, Justin Chambers als Alex Karev, Chandra Wilson als Miranda Bailey, James Pickens Jr. als Richard Webber, Kevin McKidd als Owen Hunt, Caterina Scorsone als Amelia Shepherd, Camilla Luddington als Jo Wilson, Kelly McCreary als Maggie Pierce en Giacomo Gianniotti als Andrew DeLuca.

Grey’s Anatomy is gemaakt en wordt geproduceerd door Shonda Rhimes (Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder). Betsy Beers (Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder), Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan), Krista Vernoff (Shameless), William Harper, Zoanne Clack, Debbie Allen en Fred Einesman zijn uitvoerend producenten. Grey’s Anatomy wordt geproduceerd door ABC Studios.
